BAYUGAN CITY, AGUSAN DEL SUR — The City Government of Bayugan celebrated National Women’s Month with various women’s organizations and groups, highlighting the invaluable contributions of women to families, communities, and nation-building last March 13, 2026.

Anchored on the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas,” the celebration underscored the strength, leadership, courage, and resilience of Filipino women. The theme draws inspiration from the babaylans—women who historically held significant roles in their communities as spiritual leaders, healers, and keepers of culture and knowledge.

The celebration was attended by Mayor Kirk A. Asis, who joined the city’s women’s groups in recognizing the important role of women in the continuing development of Bayugan City. In his message, Mayor Asis emphasized that women are not only vital partners in development but are also leaders and advocates who contribute significantly to building stronger families and communities.

The activity also served as an avenue to promote awareness of women’s rights and the importance of protecting women from discrimination, violence, and other forms of abuse. It reinforced the commitment of the City Government to support programs and initiatives that promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusive governance.
